The toughest job, and how Mississippi Governor William Winter did it

The new film “The Toughest Job: William Winter’s Mississippi,” follows William Winter from childhood through his career in politics and rise to become the 57th Governor of Mississippi.

It focuses on his battle to pass an education reform bill in 1982 that was fiercely opposed by members of his state’s legislature.

The documentary was screened on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on September 9th, and following the showing, Winter sat with former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt and MDC President David Dodson for a discussion about universal excellence in public education.
