Photos: Rural schools of North Carolina

EdNC is collecting photos of rural schools in North Carolina. We would like to invite all of you who use Twitter or Instagram to post photos of your rural schools using the hashtag #ruralschoolnc.

We will curate the images and compile them into a gallery on this page. Some our favorites will rotate through the photo strip on our home page.

We’d like to show the variety of rural schools across the state — whether public, charter, or private.

What counts as rural? There are different definitions.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 33.91 percent of North Carolinians lived in a rural part of the state in 2010. In fact, 90.52 percent of North Carolina’s land area is rural1.

What counts for you as rural?
