The Professional Educator Preparation and Standards Commission (PEPSC) met yesterday. Here’s an update on that meeting from Alex Granados: As North Carolina continues its vast remote learning experiment, PEPSC discussed the challenges around student teaching, including how to best evaluate student teachers, and how educator preparation programs can work with districts to get students placed in classrooms. The commission also heard updates from the State Board of Education, including the Board’s approval of the new educator preparation program weighted accountability model.

These are the sources EdNC checks every day: The New York Times, The 74, Education Week, The NC Tribune, The Insider, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, WUNC, WFAE, Brookings, Education Commission of the States, and DPI’s News. A cross section of diverse sources are checked weekly and monthly. If you have an article you think needs to be included, email [email protected].
