Ask & Answer | Here’s what we know about dual enrollment

Readers asked what will happen to students who are dually enrolled in public school and an institution of higher education.

Today, a joint statement on dual enrollment was issued by Chair of the State Board of Education Eric Davis, N.C. Community College System President Peter Hans, Superintendent of Public Instruction Mark Johnson, University of North Carolina Interim President William Roper, and N.C. Independent Colleges and Universities President Hope Williams.

The statement says, “[W]e know that families with students currently enrolled in these programs are concerned right now about what will happen with their child’s education.”

While there aren’t a lot of answers yet, these leaders and institutions are committed to working together as we more forward.

On a personal note, my child who is dually enrolled will begin his online classes at N.C. State on Monday.
