Reach Roundup: What do you think most impacts a person’s chances of moving from lower class to upper class over his or her lifetime?

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS

If students hold a walkout, who should dictate the consequences?

QUOTES FROM LAST WEEK

As long as the students protest peacefully, they should only have to be responsible for the work they may have missed. I am a teacher and I support the students using their 1st amendment rights. -Teacher from Charlotte

I agree that we should exercise our first amendment right but are the students really understanding this or is this just a way “to get out of class.” -Teacher from Lenoir

THE QUESTION OF THE WEEK

NATION’S NOTES

We’ve just launched a new project — AskNC — in partnership with our colleagues at the NC Center for Public Policy Research. I’d encourage you to check it out here.

AskNC is powered by a platform called Hearken, which I’ve been a fan of since I read founder Jen Brandel’s post where she declared, “In a democracy, an informed citizenry is the foundation of a healthy society. And this need for people to get answers to questions that they have neither time nor expertise to investigate is not going away. If anything, it’s growing increasingly urgent. In times of great uncertainty, questions are currency.”

Our new collaboration with the NC Center for Public Policy Research is a case of the perfect alignment. For 40 years, the Center has tackled complex questions for North Carolina. Today, technology allows us to reach more people than ever before and truly put the public back in public policy.

Will you join us? Have you ever considered why the cardinal is our state bird? Are you curious about the way our legislative districts are drawn? Have you ever stopped to ask why we even have counties anyways? We’re here to help — it is time to #AskNC.

All the best,
Nation

We want to hear from you.
