PEFNC launches push for charter school modifications

The North Carolina Senate recently passed SB 456, a charter school modification bill that proponents argue would restore equitable funding to charter schools.

Darrell Allison, president of Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina, says that public charter school children receive less than $.75 cents for every dollar received by public traditional school children.

Opponents argue, however, that the bill would give money to charter schools that they are not entitled to, including private gifts, grants and other funds that are usually reserved for specific traditional public schools or traditional public school districts.

PEFNC is beginning a push in support of the legislation that includes emails with links to interviews with charter school leaders and stories from public charter schools around the state.

SB 456 has currently been referred to the House Rules Committee
