Communities In Schools: Helping students succeed

Communities In Schools across North Carolina (CISNC) served more than 230,000 students across the state in the 2013-14 school year, and their effort is having results.

A release by the organization said that of the students they worked with, 96 percent made it to the next grade, 85 percent increased attendance, and 90 percent exhibited better behavior.

“Student success is our business,” said Eric Hall, president and CEO of Communities In Schools of North Carolina. “We work with schools to provide students the support system they need to bridge gaps in learning. When students succeed, communities succeed.”

The organization operates within schools and connects students and their families to education and community resources.

Of the more than 230,000 students the organization helped, more than 91 percent were on free-and-reduced lunch plans.
